published on October 1, 2010

INTRADEL, the Liège Inter-municipal represents 72 communes or 950.000 habitants. In response to more stringent legislation, INTRADEL decided to modify an existing sorting and incineration plant by implementing new incineration streams capable to directly mass burn 320.000 tons/year of municipal and non-dangerous industrial waste.

Existing sorting equipment are dismantled and reception hall is extended. Two stoker grates of 21 tons/year each are to be installed with recovery boiler of 67 MWth, each delivering superheated steam to a 30 MWe turbo generator. Specific dryer for water waste sludge will be added in order to co-incinerate dried sludge in combustion chamber. SNCR denox is to be provided with ammonia injection in combustion chamber. The flue gas cleaning system will include semi-dry lime scrubber, activated carbon injection and bag house filter.

For this assignment, IBH has a ‘Design, build and operate’ contract type.
